MacDonald Signs with Boston

Showcase League coach Mike MacDonald has signed with the Boston Red Sox and has been assigned to the Double A affiliate Portland Sea Dogs. MacDonald was a University of Maine standout and a draft pick of the Toronto Blue Jays, he was the America East Pitcher of the Year in 2002 and still holds the UMaine Black Bears strikeouts record with 284.

Last fall, after he return from his season with AAA Las Vegas, MacDonald coached the Showcase League Royal Blue team and worked with local youth pitchers at Maine Hits in Scarborough, Maine.
